Cheer City - Spring Open

The one where the coach got lost!

Even though the coach got completely lost trying to find the venue a great weekend was had by all. The first competition of the season on a sprung floor and a chance to show off some of the tumbling skills we have been working so hard on over the past year.

Day one: The tiny and mini teams kicked off our competition in style - the tiny Twinkles in their new rainbow dresses had some slight directional issues but pulled together as a team achieved 2nd place. The mini Sparkles stunt group achieved a 3rd place trophy in a tough category, they were followed by the Starlets mini cheerleading team who archived a 6th place trophy. The Starlets team are gathering confidence with each performance.

The youth teams followed for the afternoon session. The starburst team gave another confident performance for another 2nd place finish; the stardust team gave a much more confident performance in their second competition climbing into 4th place this time around. The Shine team followed with another confident performance. Unfortunately one team member had to leave the floor during the performance but the rest of the team carried on admirably, still achieving a good score and 7th place trophy.

We also entered our first duo this season into this competition. Fearne and Isla put in a great performance with such fabulous smiles that the achieved second place in their first competition together.

Day two: The junior teams started in the morning session, Stellar and Inferno stunt groups first to go. The Inferno team achieved 8th place due an unfortunate fall at the beginning of their routine, the Stellar team followed with a confident performance. Due to injury, base Elle was unable to compete at this competition so was substituted by an additional flyer Evie. The whole team did a fabulous job with very little practise to gain 4th place at this event. The solar team followed, this time with new cheerleader Millie in place of injured Elle - Millie put in a great performance with the rest of her team in her first cheerleading competition. Another team with very little practise the Solar team finished in a fantastic 3rd place.

Following on to the afternoon session, it was time for the Blaze team to show off their skills and sadly the last outing for Flyer Grace before becoming a full time base/ spotter. Another fantastic routine and another 3rd place trophy achieved.

Special mention for this weekend must go to Chloe for performing on both days despite feeling really ill.

Well done Chloe
